An apple a day

In my rush to get out the door this morning, I forgot my lunch. (I really hate when that happens.) So, I made a quick stop at the Weis Markets on Roosevelt Avenue after dropping the boy off at preschool.   That’s where I discovered the KiKu Apple.

The what?  The KiKu Apple.  It was possibly the most delicious apple that I’ve ever tasted. According to the KiKu website, the KiKu apple is a natural genetic mutation or sport of the Fuji apple.  It was discovered in 1990 in Japan.  The apple is becoming increasingly popular in the United States because it is sweet, juicy and crisp.

I must admit that I had my doubts, but this was possibly the best apple that I’ve ever tasted.

Have you tried the KiKu? What’s your favorite apple?

I work for Weis and know that our produce people absolutely rave about the Kiku apple. It’s available for a couple of more weeks then we have to wait next year. Sigh.

We’re also proud of our cut fruit and veggie program — we do it ourselves in store — you can taste the difference v pre-packed cut fruit and veggies.

I do love my iPhone too. Although, I don’t think it would taste very good :)

Dennis, I’ll be in for more KiKu’s. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a piece of fruit.
