DIY: Brown sugar scrub

There are some days when all I want is to scrub the stress away. With the limited room in my bathroom and not knowing how to pronounce most of the ingredients on most bottles of body scrub, I usually forgo my want.

I stumbled upon a recipe to make a brown sugar and vanilla scrub, which only includes four ingredients, all of which I already had or were easy to get at the local grocery store.

To make, gather brown sugar, granulated white sugar and/or fine sea salt, sunflower oil and vanilla extract.

I split the recipe I found in half, by first combining 1/2 cup of brown sugar and a 1/4 cup of a mix of white sugar and sea salt (use what you prefer) in a bowl. I then added a 1/4 cup of sunflower oil and 1/8 teaspoon of vanilla. This makes more than enough for a few uses, so I advice storing on a container and keeping in a cool place.

Also, when using, don’t be afraid when water begins to roll off your skin. The sunflower oil creates a protective barrier to lock in moisture but should not stain clothing after drying off after a shower.
