Last-minute teacher gift inspired by Pinterest

The inspiration.

I got home from work around 6:30 tonight and remembered two things: Tomorrow is my daughter’s last day of first grade and I didn’t have a gift for her teacher.

I have no excuse for waiting until the last minute, especially considering I edited this story about teacher gift ideas weeks ago.

I looked at my husband, hoping that maybe he had the answer. Maybe he had a hidden gift I didn’t know about. He smiled and told me to check Pinterest for some quick ideas.

I did a search and found several ideas. The one pictured above seemed to be the easiest and the cutest.

I made a quick trip to A.C. Moore, where I didn’t find the exact items I saw in the photo, so we had to make some substitutions.

Our finished gift doesn't look exactly like the one we saw on Pinterest, but I think it turned out OK.

My daughter’s teacher likes sunflowers, so we incorporated sunflower stickers and some school-themed stickers.

We found a terra-cotta pot, some eco-friendly excelsior (wooden craft stuffing) and some scented markers.

We made it home by 8:30.

The project took about 10 minutes to pull together, and that included the time it took Mara to decorate the pot.

I added a photo of Mara to fill out the arrangement.

I hope her teacher likes it tomorrow and that it shows how much we appreciated all she did this year.
