Hang out with Smart at the York Fair

Growing up, I loved sipping on milkshakes while checking out the livestock at my hometown’s annual fair. But it’s been years since I’ve ridden the Zipper or strolled through an exhibit hall.

This will be my first trip to the York Fair, and I’m ready to take in all the food, music and fun. I’ll be hanging out at the NewsVroom from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 and again from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16.

The van will be parked inside Memorial Hall. Come say hi and tell me the best place to snag a funnel cake or what ride to test out on the midway (bonus points if you come bearing gifts of Dramamine).

I’ll have lots of stuff to tell you, too. We can get you signed up to receive the magazine or e-newsletter. You can also test out our iPads and see all that we do on SmartMagPA.com, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+.

And if you love being in front of the camera, I can take your glamour shot and get you added to our growing list of volunteer models. We can also use this time to chat about your story ideas and a suggestions for future issues of the magazine.

I’ll have lots of copies of our September/October 2012 issue and free tickets to the Women’s Show at the York Expo Center Oct. 6 and 7.

Business reporter Lauren Boyer will be hanging out with me from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the NewsVroom, and religion reporter John Hilton will be joining me from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 16.

I can’t wait to see you at the fair!
