Smart writing: My 12-year-old daughter wants you to share your similes

One awesome part of homeschooling is that our learning almost never stays inside the neat box labeled “subject area.” Case in point: Sarah’s “math” book had a brainstorming challenge in it about similes.

You know what a simile is, right? A way of comparing two things using “like” or “as” in the construction?

Sarah would love to hear your simile suggestions here on Our School at Home! She even gives you some ways to get started.

While you’re there, check out some photo highlights of our past couple of weeks and see what insight of Sarah’s most floored me.

My name is Joan and I'm a lifelong Yorker. Throughout high school and college, I swore I was getting out of here as soon as possible. Now, a few years later, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. I love my town, and I hear every day from readers who love their towns, too. So please, connect with me and let's share what makes life in York County great. I'm here to help you enjoy this place as much as I do!
