December Birchbox Review: Frownies eye gels and Tea Forte

My December Birchbox was filled with lots of little beauty items to help me prepare for holiday party season — and unwind when the parties are over.

Frownies eye gels

Fight puffy dark circles with these innovative under eye patches, which are soaked with cactus-derived collagen and toning niacin. Full size $29.95.

These gels were a neat little treat. I recently started using an under eye gel to help with dark circles (curse of a night shifter) and found these gels to be soft and cooling on my face. The gels are re-useable if you purchase Frownies Rose Water Hydrator. Birchbox does not sell the hydrator, but you can find it on the Frownies website for $11.95 for a 2 oz. bottle.

Juicy Coutoure

Juicy’s signature fragrance is a blend of sweet and floral notes. Sophisticated and feminine, it’s perfect for day or night. Full size $19 to $89.

The smell is nice, but a little too heavy for my taste. The woman in the advertisement is wearing a giant, pink wig you might see on a Victorian-era queen. It makes me feel nearly that old when I wear the perfume. Nearly.

Number 4 Clarifying Shampoo

Get over your lather addiction. Gentle enough for everyday use, this unique cleanser features a low-suds formula that removes build-up without stripping hair of essential oils. Full size $32

I like shampoo that smells good. And this is lacking. I did think it cleansed well without over doing it.

Per-fect Beauty Lash Perfection Gel

Amp up your lashes with this multitasking primer, conditioner and mascara. Full size $28.50

I’ve never had this happen before but this is not the first time I got this product from Birchbox. Whoops. I would have hoped for something new to try, but this is a nice item. It goes on smooth and leaves my lashes looking dark and long but they aren’t hard and crunchy like mascara can sometimes leave them.

Lifestyle Extra — Tea Forte skin-smart Teas

A mega-antioxidant tea that taste amazing and helps our skin look more radiant? Yes, please. 16 tea bags, $6.

This tea in cucumber mint, honey yuzu and cherry marzipan are pretty cool. Green tea tends have have a subtle flavor, but these are packed with yummy goodness.
