January Birchbox Review: Ojon hair serum and Eyeko skinny eyeliner

I am very happy with this month’s Birchbox. It is filled with plenty of little items I know I will use until I’m squeezing the bottle for the last drop. And while this doesn’t happen for me very often — I fell madly in love with one of the products in this month’s box and truly believe it could replace all the haircare items sitting under my bathroom sink.

Aerie Shimmer Fragrance

This light-as-air blend of bergamot, peony and vanilla feels fresh and warm. Full-size, $14.95 to $39.95.

I’m kind of picky with my fragrances. My every day go to is lighter (Hello by Harry Prince), but I was really happy with this floral, yet nearly musky perfume. It’s got just enough of that warmth to make you feel like you can rock the fragrance, without it being overpowering. If you tend to wear a lighter fragrance, I would suggest this one as an alternative for those special nights out.

Embryolisse Laite-Creme Concentre

A favorite of models and makeup artists, this cult French moisturizer heals dryness and leaves skin primed for foundation. Full-size, $16.

Oh, my, my, my. This certainly made my face feel like it was ready for the day. I have oily skin, so I can see this being a little too heavy for the summer, but for dry, winter months, it’s perfect. It makes you feel like your skin is finally quenched and ready to show the world what you’ve got.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

This UK import features a user-friendly pen applicator and supersmooth formula. Full-size, $15.

I get nervous with liquid eyeliner for the main reason that I am in too much of a hurry when I put my makeup on and I usually smudge something along the way. A pencil is easy to wipe away and start fresh, so that’s usually my go-to. But I really liked this eyeliner. The black is nice enough to wear everyday when you want to have that pop to your eyes, and I found it applied perfectly — I didn’t even look like I had raccoon eyes!

Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum

Repair stressed strands with this aromatic hair treatment — exotic ojon and macadamia oils work together to smooth and hydrate hair. Full size, $25.

I looooove this product. It’s one that I used for the very first time and thought it could really change my whole blow-dry, get out the door routine. It’s been the only product I’ve used on my hair since I got it earlier this week. After washing my hair, I used a little, primarily on the ends, blow dried and that was it. Out the door, ready as can be, and my fiance even commented on how much he has liked my hair since I’ve been using it. Isn’t that enough to make me buy it?

This is one product I think could really replace all those pharmacy hair products that have been stacking up under my bathroom sink. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Birchbox.

Lifestyle extra: Larabar Bar

These satisfying bars are packed with wholesome ingredients like dried fruit and nuts. They’re good for you and good tasting. Full-size, $9.

All I can say is yum and thanks for the afternoon snack. Love these when I don’t have time to eat a real meal.
