Michelle Obama looked stunning in a red chiffon halter-neck Jason Wu gown Monday. The floor-length dress was custom-made with velvet details and the designer didn’t even know if the dress would be worn that evening, until Michelle made her first on-stage appearance.

Jason Wu has been favored by Michelle, who wore a dress by the same designer last Inauguration Day.

If you want to know more about Jason Wu’s designs and where to find them, check out the selection at Neiman Marcus. Warning: Be prepared to drop some major cash. Here are a few of my favorite Jason Wu pieces:

Leather-Trim Tweed Bomber Jacket, on sale now for $682: If you have the money to splurge, this is a truly unique blazer with front zip and welt pockets. The tweed leather mix  is playful, but sophisticated.

X-Ray Floral-Print Silk Trench Coat & Dress, $2,940 for the trench and $2,195 for the dress: Layering an elegant trench with a matching dress is powerful and feminine business attire. The floral X-ray print silk organza and sheer long sleeves are design choices I love.

Lace-Underlay Draped Chiffon Gown, $3,995: Dare I say that I love this dress more than Michelle’s? I’m so attracted to this look of two dresses in one. The lace black and neutral underlay in relationship with semisheer chiffon overlay is exquisite. It would draw attention anywhere.
