A new coat might be just what he needs this Valentine’s Day. The North Face jackets are reliable, sleek and warm. Photo by Ashley May

Men are difficult to shop for. We know that because we just got through Christmas and now Valentine’s Day is almost here. And, we are Googling around for ideas once again.

If you aren’t sure what to get him this Feb. 14, don’t stress. I’ve found some great, fashionable finds that he will love. Whether he’s a corporate guy or one that prefers to hike outside, here are the outfit-essentials you won’t want him to be without:

The North Face jacket: If he’s still wearing the coat he wore in high school, it might be time for you get him a new jacket. Warmth and quality is just as important as style. So, my pick is one from North Face. Expect to spend upwards of $130 for a jacket, but know your man won’t catch a cold shoveling the driveway. Plus, it is sure to last years. I like the Men’s Vortex Triclimate Jacket, a three-in-one snow/sports jacket, because it’s a heavy-duty product with a removable lining for not-so-cold weather, too. It costs $290.

J. Crew tie: Give him a tie with a pop of color this year. My favorite is the Silk Tie in Lagoon Blue Stripe, $64.50, because it’s bold but classic. Most J. Crew ties are upwards of $60.

Park & Bond loafers: If he needs quality dress shoes, check out the selection here. Park & Bond have handsome shoes for your handsome man. Prices are upwards of $100. My pick is the Leather Loafers, a wardrobe staple that’s not too basic. This Italian-made shoe is a moccasin-toe with beautiful tonal top-stitching. It typically retails for $395, but is on sale now for $198. If your looking for something with more of a signature look, check out the Wabler Driving Loafers, $395. These shoes have a red and white  grosgrain ribbon across the top that will make him look like the best-dressed man in the room.

Alex Maine pants: Every man needs a pair of pants that goes between the too-casual jean and the too-dressy pant. Alex Maine is the answer. He will love these pants because they are extremely comfortable. You will love these pants because they look great with everything he owns — and they are dressy enough for a night out. My favorite pair is the Brushed Twill Prime, $164, because the deep sea color looks great on everyone.  Also, I should note that another reason I love Alex Maine is because all products are made in the USA.

GAP sweaters: Guys can always use an extra sweater. GAP is a great place to find a reliable, warm sweater for a reasonable price. Most sweaters cost around $40 or $50. The Merino Half-Zip Sweater is a perfect everyday piece that works great with a simple tee underneath. It’s on sale now for $43.99. If you want a casual crew, look at the Honeycomb Crew Sweater, $54.95. It is a fitted ribbed sweater that’s machine-washable.
