Fashion Panel: What outfit is best for hot weather?

It's so hot, you really would rather wear this. (AP Photo/Mahesh Kumar A.)

Sometimes, this is the kind of hot-weather outfit we’d prefer. (AP Photo/Mahesh Kumar A.)

You know it’s hot when you are sweating even before you pick out your outfit. So, be sure you’re not only dressed work-appropriate, but also hot-weather comfortable.

Look and feel cool during hot summer weather with some helpful wardrobe suggestions from the Fashion Panel.

Our fashionistas will show you what short dresses to go after with the sandals to match.

Here’s what they have to say about their favorite outfits for hot weather:

Abercrombie & Fitch embellished tank. size xsmall. NWT. $15. Abercrombie and Fitch shorts. Size 4. $10.

Alexandria Keener: My favorite things to wear when it’s hot out can sometimes be different depending on my mood.

I like to sometimes wear a pretty lightweight cotton dress, simple jewelry, and a simple sandal.

Sometimes, though, I like to just throw on a cute pair of shorts and a tank top.

I don’t like to wear open toe shoes if it’s raining, so I sometimes go with a pair of closed toe shoes that are comfortable, but still have a style that complements my outfit.

Check out the photos for inspiration on how to make a casual, cool look be classy.

Summer dress

Lucky Brand floral dress, medium, $12. Vintage necklace, $10. New size 8 Nine West sandals, $25.

I have outfits very similar to these (I’m wearing shorts and tank outfit right now) and I’m always comfortable!

P.S. Those outfits are all available at my store.

Caroline Morris: This answer is really easy. We carry a fabulous line of bamboo clothing, Yala, that feels like you are wearing your PJ’s, but you are dressed and lookin’ good! Without exception, every member of Kimman’s staff has at least two pieces of Yala clothing.

Prices start in the $30’s and cap out at about $79. The best part is we can order just one of anything so if Kimman’s doesn’t have your size in stock, it only takes a few days to get it!

Miss Peanutty: Hot and humid weather can really deflate one’s personal style. However, with some great foundation pieces, you can still have fun with your wardrobe and stay cool. I love this 1970s crocheted, hot pink dress. Wear it as a bathing suit cover-up or, as pictured here, over bike shorts and a tube top. With this combination you will look dressed, comfortable, and adorable!

Even if your personal style doesn’t gravitate to such a flashy piece, having a pair of basic bike shorts is still great to layer under a dress or skirt. Depending on the length they could purposely pop out at the hemline or remain hidden. What I love about this fashion choice is the shorts keep your thighs comfortable in the heat, add an instant pop of color to an outfit, and allow a gal to join any impromptu outdoor games without worry about a wardrobe malfunction!

The striped dress is great to wear to the office/work and looks great belted. The neon leopard print on is a great for a night out because the material is stretchy and features cut out shoulders. I found both of them on Eloquii, but they are sold out.

The blue one is great for errands and casual days. Read my blog post about it here.

The printed caftan dress is also great for either office or casual.

The hi-lo dress is great for festivials or just casual occasions. The floral print makes it vibrant, yet comfortable, choice. (This is a similar choice.)

Other places I like to look:

Sweet Melissa’s on Beaver Street.

Forever 21 ( I love the Cool Girl Geo Dress.)

Simply Be (My pick is the Maxi Dress.)
