Lavender Lemonade cools, relaxes and refreshens

You don’t need us to tell you that it’s a scorcher out there. And 95-degree days call for some hydration. Craving something tangy and sweet? Skip that sugar-filled jug of Turkey Hill iced tea, and reward your dry palate with Lavender Lemonade.

The herbal ingredient in this recipe takes lemonade to a whole new earthy level. Lavender helps relax the body, and one whiff of fresh-squeezed lemon awakens the senses.

This drink tastes like something you’d imbibe at a spa after receiving a 60-minute deep-tissue massage by David Beckham. Or after dripping in sweat from any other daily activity in this sauna of life.

Lavender Lemonade

Ingredients

1/4 cup of dried lavender flowers
8 cups water
6 lemons
1/4 cup stevia
2 tablespoons sugar

Directions

1. Heat 2 cups of water until it steams, but not until it boils. Remove from heat, add lavender flowers and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and cool.

2. Squeeze 6 lemons. Depending on how well you squeeze the fruit, the lemonade might taste too tart. If you use a lemon juicer, you’ll need only 5 lemons.

3. Pour lemon juice into a pitcher with 6 cups of water. Add stevia, sugar and lavender water. Cool and serve.
