Are you willing to wake up with fashion Saturday morning? How about to meet TV personality, fashion expert and author Jill Martin?
Trendevous, Bon-Ton’s fall runway fashion show and beauty event, is coming to Park City Saturday, Oct. 19. Check in starts at 7:30 a.m. and the fashion show starts at 8:30 a.m.
For the early risers, this is an opportunity to enjoy exclusive shopping before stores open to the public. Also, there is a chance to win a $250 Bon-Ton shopping spree and a pair of designer shoes. Those who register will also receive a 25 percent off coupon booklet for everything seen in the show.
Martin was surprised to see so many shoppers at her last show in Iowa, which attracted more than 250 people. She said she expects a similar crowd for her appearance in Lancaster.
“It’s manageable, glamorous, shopping,” Martin said. “You don’t have to get dressed up. You are with your friends — learning, then shopping.”
WGAL news anchor Lori Burkholder will host the fashion show, which includes 50 looks.
To register, call 717-393-9494 ext. 403. Reservations are $10. Those who register will receive a $10 Bon-Ton gift card upon arrival.
Here are three trends Martin said to look for:
1. Black and white. “The days of you can’t wear white after Labor Day is over,” Martin said. Whether it’s colorblocking or just solid winter white, pieces are incorporating this classic look again. Some of the mod-60s fashion is back.
2. Men-inspired looks. Think houndstooth or tweed jackets that look like you borrowed them from your boyfriend. Be careful to spot what looks are youthful and which ones are sophisticated.
3. Bright trench coats. People are used to investing in the khaki or black, but embellished jackets with bright colors can be a great piece for fall to winter to spring, Martin said.
A last piece of advice: Every woman shouldn’t feed pressured to follow any of these trends.
“I don’t believe in getting in on trends that don’t look good on you,” Martin said.
Not sure what works and what doesn’t? Don’t worry. Martin, who partnered with Nautica for the event, will be at the Nautica pad after the show, giving one-on-one style advice to shoppers.
She said getting in on fall fashion trends isn’t about buying a whole new wardrobe, but rather selecting versatile pieces that work with what you have.
