It’s time to sip, savor and explore the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail.

In its ninth year, the Tour de Tanks event kicks off Saturday, March 1, and runs weekends through March 30, offering visitors the chance to taste the latest wines right out of the barrels.

This year’s lineup features a returning group of 22 wineries and one distillery. The full list of participants is available on the event website.

Tickets, which are good for noon to 5 p.m. all five weekends of Tour de Tanks, are available online or at participating wineries for $25 each and include a souvenir wine glass and 10 percent discount at the wineries. Designated driver tickets are also available for $15 each.

Special hotel and limo packages are also available throughout the Tour de Tanks event.

Comment below with your favorite wine from the participating wineries by noon Feb. 28. One winner will be drawn at random from all the entries received, and announced in the comments section and on the Smart Facebook page. The winner will receive two Tour de Tanks tickets, a prize valued at $50.

Susquehanna Ale Trail and Mason-Dixon Wine Trail map

Several breweries and wineries have been added to the Susquehanna Ale Trail and the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail in the past year.

The two trails were created by the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau to promote the regional businesses.

    Allegro Winery in the Brogue is the best local wine. I like sweet wine so my favorite is probably ” Blues” if I have to pick just one.

    Oh my, there are so many good ones to chose from. I would have to say that Moon Dancer Winery in Wrightsville has to be my top favorite! It is such a beautiful location over looking the Susquehanna. Buster’s Blush and Rocky’s Mango are AMAZING! We do this tour every year! It is so much fun!!

    I love the Vineyard at Grandview’s Sapphire White! Their atmosphere is really nice and they offer a fun wine, chocolate and cheese tasting which my husband and I like to do when we get unexpected “date” time!

    All local wineries have wonderful choices and l only buy local wines. When visiting the wineries always bring home several bottles. Favorites at all makes it hard to choose. Just at Mount Hope and favorite is PA Apple Spice so good cold and wonderful warmed in the crockpot!

    Old Republic Distillery in Seven Valleys PA – love the apple pie moonshine. I love the heritage stories they tell with each flavor. Proud Strong family history and love.

    My husband I love Allegro Vineyard – his favorite wine is their Riesling because it has the most wonderful flavor so sweet and crisp – mine is the Vidal – its flavor is so addicting that I can drink it with most everything – what a fun way to spend the afternoon sampling all their wines – this is definitely our favorite winery – we love it!!!!

    Visit Hauser Estate Winery, they are wonderful. Loved the Chambercin and the reserves are amazing as well. Visit them anytime, they view is AMAZING.
